KinTsugi

From the Kintsugi workshop.

A variety of materials and tools are used in the workshop. Many people think of natural lacquer when they hear the word 'kintsugi', but there are high-performance adhesives that can replace lacquer, and they are used according to the nature of the work. Pure gold and silver materials for maki-e have remained unchanged. When people think of kintsugi, they think of ceramics and porcelain, but it is possible to restore almost anything, including glass and decorative objects.

Introduction of Kintsugi Process

The slideshow above shows a typical kintsugi process for ceramics. The entire process is done by hand, and requires delicate hand movements as well as familiarity and a knack for beautiful workmanship. Kintsugi workshops are also available upon request.
